TUCSON ALLIANCE FOR AUTISM SUMMER CAMP 2018
Curriculum will concentrate on leisure skills, social communication, friendships and fun.
Thank you for your interest in attending our 2018 Summer Camp!
We all dream of the chance to go to camp in the summer. For children with autism, social delays, and pragmatic language delays, going to a typical summer camp of any type can be over-stimulating. TAFA provides a half-day camp program where the curriculum will concentrate on leisure skills, social communication, friendships, and fun. Community involvement will also be an important part of camp for our middle and high schoolers.
We are not your typical summer camp. We understand that to meet the needs of our campers we have to offer a variety of activities, motivators, and special assistance to make camp a great experience.
Any child ages 5-18 at the time camp starts may apply. No referral is necessary! Please be aware that space is limited and spaces are filled as payment and paperwork are received.
We try very hard to make camp accessible to as many children as possible. Should we have an overwhelming response of campers interested in a particular camp, we will attempt to add additional weeks to our schedule.
All children and teens are required to participate in an intake process to ensure appropriate placement. This placement will be based on age and ability level. Occasionally, students are not ready for groups. If this is the case with your child, individual therapy to learn the rules of social interactions to prepare them for group opportunities may be suggested.
Summer camp for Elementary Age children is $295 per session. Middle School and High School is $395/session.
A $100 deposit is due at the time of registration. Final payment is due 14 days before camp starts.
Elementary and Middle School Age Camps will be held at the Tucson Alliance for Autism (1002 N. Country Club Road).
The High School camp will be located on the University of Arizona Campus.
When to show up and what to bring:
Elementary Age Camp is Monday-Friday from 9am-12pm | June 4-June 15
Campers should bring a snack every day and wear comfortable clothing that can get messy. We like to limit the items that a child brings with them to camp. However if there is a favorite toy or security item that helps them throughout the day, they are welcome to bring it with them. Please note that if your child chooses to bring personal item, the clinic cannot be responsible if it is lost or damaged. We recommend that snacks and personal items be in a bag labeled with the child’s first and last name.
Middle School Age Camp is Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm | June 18-June 29
Campers should bring a snack each day that does not need to be refrigerated. Campers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Details for field trips will be sent out in advance.
High School Age Camp is Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm | June 18-June 29
Campers may bring a snack each day that does not need to be refrigerated. Campers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Details for field trips will be sent out in advance.
Campers must be picked up promptly at the end of each session.
A charge of $15 will be assessed for every 15 minutes that we have to provide supervision for a child who is picked up late.
We reserve the right to cancel camp or change camp location one week prior to the session if we have fewer than the minimum enrolled for each camp.
